What did we build?

General University Hospital in Prague – Bariatric Centre – part 1

Investor: Všeobecná fakultní nemocnice v Praze
Location: Prague Region
Realization: 04/2023 - 10/2023

Project characteristics

The aim of the project is to establish an accessible, unique, and prestigious bariatric workplace with a focus on the treatment of patients with particularly severe obesity, which will be equipped with technology according to the most advanced approaches in medicine. The center will significantly increase the range of care provided to particularly vulnerable bariatric patients whose quality of life and health status have been adversely affected by COVID-19.

Cooperation between the General University Hospital in Prague (VFN) and the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine (IKEM) will create a unique and irreplaceable center not only for Prague and the Central Bohemian Region, and for the Czech Republic as a whole. The construction of the center and its modern equipment will also create more specifically suitable conditions in cases where a barrier regime is required not only for COVID-19 infections, but also for other similar situations. The center will have the ability to isolate patients and equipment that will limit the possibility of transmitting infections between patients while providing maximum nursing facilities as a prerequisite for tighter anti-contagion protection.
